Definition:

adj : susceptible to spoilage

n : a perishable food or food product, including:
  1. animal-based products such as meat, poultry, fish, shellfish and dairy products, whether cooked or uncooked;
  2. any cooked vegetable, starch or grain products including rice, pasta and potatoes.
Examples:
Adjective: "Perishable items should be refrigerated as soon as you get them home."
Noun: "That's the bag with the perishables in it."
